Import prices can become cheaper than export so you can make a profit just flipping stuff between NPC companies.

Working as intended?

Not exactly as intended, but certainly nothing wrong with anyone taking advantage of it.
The fact you're only able to buy/sell close to 1 unit at a time should make it worthless to most people.

Thanks for asking.

Leave it to BallC to find that. (chuckle)
Is that the sick sound of new bots being bolted together that I hear?

Oof I just posted about this in the migration thread. I think it's a good idea to enable self correcting markets. Buy orders should look at sell orders, IHMO, but I won't go into the whole argument here since I already dropped my 0.02 in the migration thread.

@BB: no bots. I upgraded to Win 8 and accidentally forgot to copy over my old bots source code and it was lost. I haven't had the time or motivation to try to recode the thing so I'm sticking with following the game updates and finding quirks/bugs.

It's 7:43 A.M., and I gotta say I think this one's solved at least on the NPC part.

The 15 min update script generates the npc listings and requests, then immediately matches ALL requests with ALL listings, and "steals" any profit caused from the price discrepancy.

Best of all, total script execution time? 2 seconds.

Lol. It steals the profit? I guess it's "fair" in that neither buyer nor seller get an advantage but why not split the "profit" between the buyer and seller? Seems a little less heavy handed IMO.
